It is my favorite time of year, Spring! Now that spring has officially arrived, it is time to gather around the table to celebrate new beginnings. For my family spring has always been a time where love grows along with the beautiful flowers. This year we are in our new home of Lynchburg, VA which has been a whole new adventure but I don’t want to forget the springs spent in my small-town upbringing. For my tablescape this year, I included some pieces that brought me back home.
Hold off till the end because this post is part of a wonderful blog hop full of MORE spring Tablescape inspo!!

My Blue Willow Collection
Ever since I was about 15 years old I have been collecting Blue Willow of various patterns. I cannot point to a particular moment in time where I was drawn or why I was drawn to this collection. However I have always collected antique pieces, one might say it’s a small hobby of mine. I don’t have many hobbies this one isn’t something that will kill me or break the banks since Blue Willow is relatively inexpensive due to its mass production.
The Story of Blue Willow China
Developed by Thomas Turner in 1779, the Blue Willow pattern eventually became a classic fixture on many tables around the world. The pattern is actually English, although it is based on similar blue landscape designs in Chinese porcelain. By the end of the 18th century, several English potteries were making Blue Willow patterns, and it immediately captivated the imaginations of consumers. Potteries continued to make Blue Willow throughout the 19th century and 20th century, and it is still made today. Part of what makes Blue Willow so popular is the story it tells in its design. Blue Willow in 2022 has made a tremendous comeback in trends like grandmillennial style. Utilizing these beautiful blue plates and dishes provide gorgeous contrast for any table setting.

The Centerpiece
The image shows my Churchhill China Blue-WIllow mugs paired with my copper dinnerware from Popshelf and my beautiful light blue vase from Granny Clampetts in Pilot, Mountian, NC
As I was curating the table for this year’s celebrations, I actually end up going to around five different stores. It was so much fun going around and finding new and old pieces to accent my beautiful collection. For the centerpiece, I went shopping during a short trip to go see my family. My mother & I had a fun time at hobby lobby where I was able to find some gorgeous greenery pieces for the centerpiece. This year, as floral centerpieces are becoming more and more greenery-based and minimalistic, I decided to go with a classic eucalyptus base with two small peonies and a small rose branch.
Table Setting
For the table setting, I utilized my Churchhill mugs alongside my other Blue Willow pieces. To accent the pieces, I placed Target’s Bullseye’s Playground™ Cloth Veggies along with a small stem. Using these provided a small (kid-friendly) Accent to the dinner table.
